Week 1 in the NFL features an intriguing AFC West matchup between the Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers.

These teams faced off in Week 18 last season with the Raiders clinching a playoff spot in a 35-32 thriller and sending the Bolts to the golf links. The Raiders kicked a field goal with time expiring in overtime instead of settling for a tie, which would have resulted in both teams making the postseason.

Oakland Athletics outfielder/designated hitter Brent Rooker was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday due to an injury that he sustained on Sunday. Rooker is dealing with a costochondral rib cartilage injury. He was hurt in the game against the Detroit Tigers on a checked swing and has missed the last three games, including Thursday's 1-0 road win over the Texas Rangers. Rooker, 29, is batting .200 with two homers, five RBIs and 16 strikeouts in 30 at-bats over eight games this season.
