Rooker, 29, is batting .200 with two homers, five RBIs and 16 strikeouts in 30 at-bats over eight games this season. Last season, Rooker was a surprise power source with 30 homers and 69 RBIs in 137 games. He batted .246 and made the American League All-Star roster. Schuemann hasn't played in a major league game. Right-hander Luis Medina (right knee sprain) was moved to the 60-day IL to open a 40-man roster spot for Schuemann.
